The HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) department exists to maintain, optimize, and improve indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and occupant thermal comfort in support of the University's teaching, research, and public service mission. Additionally, the department ensures proper function of certain refrigerated food service equipment, critical scientific refrigeration, and specialized laboratory environmental controls. As a unit of Building Services, the HVAC group serves all UNC-CH buildings excluding most of the hospital and student housing.
